HUMPHREY SPENDER
'A Century Celebration'.
Best known as a photographer, Humphrey Spender had an extraordinary career as an artist, designer, painter, printmaker and illustrator. His versatility, innovation and experimental techniques and creative imagination will be celebrated in this centenary show.
Mr Spender lived at the Great House in Lavenham from 1935 - 1948 and his brother, the poet Stephen Spender often stayed at the Great House in the late 30's.

LAVENHAM AIRFIELD
Early in 1944, the 487th Bomb Group 8th Air Force, United States Army Air Force moved into Lavenham Airfield, their new home, Many veterans still return to visit the old airfield of which much remains; situated one mile out of Lavenham off the A1141 towards Bury St. Edmunds.
